Toyohashi, Japan – November 7, 2024 – Musashi Energy Solutions Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd., is proud to announce the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Minami-Alps City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, to address the rapidly growing demand for Hybrid SuperCapacitors (HSCs). This expansion comes in response to increasing inquiries from global clients and partners looking to mitigate utility power challenges in AI data centers by deploying HSC technology.
The new 76,000-plus square foot plant will significantly increase Musashi Energy Solutions’ production capacity, helping the company meet the surging demand from data centers requiring advanced energy storage solutions. The company is investing to raise its annual production capacity to 1.5 million cells at its existing factory in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, this fiscal year. When complete in 2026, the new Minami-Alps facility will bring Musashi’s total annual production capacity to 6.5 million cells, positioning the company as a key player in the fast-growing market for Hybrid SuperCapacitors.
“We are excited to expand our production capabilities in response to the accelerating demand for our high-performance Hybrid SuperCapacitors,” noted Frank DeLattre, President of Musashi Energy Solutions – Americas. “Our innovative solutions are helping data center operators meet the growing power efficiency demands driven by the rapid expansion of generative AI and other data-intensive technologies. With this new plant, we are strategically positioned to support the global transition to more sustainable and reliable energy systems. Our solutions can significantly reduce carbon footprint, capital expenditures, and total cost of ownership. With superior performance across a wide range of operating temperatures, our UL-certified HSCs offer a much safer, higher-density, and cost-effective alternative to traditional batteries, ensuring critical systems remain operational and resilient.”
Musashi’s fast-recharge HSC-based ESS400 Energy Storage Systems are ideally suited for data centers, high-performance Gen AI computing, and other demanding operations that require dependable energy storage and dynamic peak load support. The company is transforming data center energy storage strategies amid a growing reliance on uninterrupted data services. When integrated with 3-phase UPS systems, the power-dense ESS400 safeguards compute operations without relying on costly, unsafe, space-hungry lithium-ion batteries and unreliable, high-maintenance lead-acid batteries.
Musashi Energy Solutions is committed to manufacturing excellence, and the new factory will leverage cutting-edge technologies to optimize production processes. With a focus on QCD+E—Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Environment—the new facility will strengthen the company’s business competitiveness and enhance sustainability and profitability.
