Hybrid SuperCapacitors for Sustainable Energy

Ensuring Cleaner, More Reliable Renewable Energy Solutions

Musashi’s Hybrid SuperCapacitors (HSCs) play a crucial role in safeguarding renewable energy systems by strengthening power stability, optimizing renewable energy performance, mitigating battery degradation, and bridging power gaps. Additionally, our HSCs effectively address power fluctuations during transients to ensure a more reliable power supply.

Designed for flexibility, our high-performance HSCs can be used as a standalone option or integrated with batteries. When combined with batteries, our HSCs significantly extend the overall lifespan of the energy storage system, eliminating the requirement for frequent battery replacements.

High Power Density

Our Hybrid SuperCapacitor products deliver and absorb power at a much higher rate than traditional batteries. This means they can rapidly charge and discharge, making them ideal for capturing and releasing the high-power output of solar panels during peak generation periods.

Since our founding in 2007, MES has been at the forefront of Hybrid SuperCapactor development and operates the largest facility for the mass production of prismatic HSC cells in the world.

Solar systems often experience sudden surges in energy demand. Our HSCs can help “shave” off the peaks by absorbing and releasing power rapidly. This prevents overloading of the solar panels and allows for better energy supply management during peak usage periods.

Solar panels generate varying amounts of electricity based on weather conditions and sunlight availability. Our HSCs can be connected in parallel with the solar panels to store excess energy when the panels produce more electricity than needed. During periods of low solar output, the Hbrid SuperCapacitors release the stored energy to meet immediate demand, thus smoothing out the power output.

Wind Power

For wind turbine applications, our HSCs address specific challenges, such as counteracting the variations in wind velocity – enhancing the system’s overall efficiency.

Wind turbines use blade pitch control to optimize their aerodynamic efficiency and capture maximum wind energy. Musashi’s HSCs provide the necessary power for adjusting the blade pitch quickly and accurately. Their high power density and fast charge/discharge capabilities make them ideal for this application, as rapid response times are crucial in adjusting the blades to changing wind conditions.

Wind turbines often experience fluctuations in wind speed, resulting in variable power output. Our energy storage systems act as power buffers, absorbing excess energy during periods of high wind speed and releasing that stored energy during low wind speed to ensure a more consistent power output. This peak power smoothing helps to stabilize the electrical grid and improves the overall efficiency of the wind turbine system.

In low-wind conditions, wind turbines may not generate sufficient power to feed the grid continuously. Our HSCs store excess energy produced during higher wind speeds and release it when the turbine’s output is insufficient. This capability improves the wind turbine’s efficiency and helps maximize energy capture, even during suboptimal wind conditions.

Microgrids

Microgrid-Renewables

Our energy storage products play a vital role in balancing load demands and optimizing the use of renewable energy sources. By efficiently storing and releasing energy, they help microgrids manage sudden load changes and fluctuations, improving grid stability and overall energy efficiency. Moreover, our long-life HSCs’ ability to operate effectively over a wide range of temperatures makes them particularly suitable for remote and off-grid microgrid applications, where environmental conditions can vary significantly.

Our Hybrid SuperCapacitors’ fast response times and high power density make them ideal for microgrid frequency regulation. They can quickly inject or absorb power to stabilize the grid frequency and maintain a reliable power supply.

When voltage levels decrease, our energy storage products instantly discharge stored energy to provide an immediate voltage boost. Conversely, during voltage spikes, our systems absorb excess energy, preventing voltage levels from exceeding safe limits. Their ability to respond quickly to changes in demand or generation helps maintain a smooth and constant voltage output.

In microgrids with distributed energy resources (DERs) or intermittent renewable sources, high-efficiency energy storage systems assist in balancing power output to match load requirements. By absorbing excess energy during high generation or releasing stored energy during high-demand periods, Musashi’s HSCs help keep voltage levels within acceptable ranges.

By integrating Musashi’s advanced energy storage systems, users can enhance the return on investment in alternative energy applications to maximize the efficiency and longevity of their renewable energy operations.
